Search clicks up 12x for an analytical instrument manufacturer

Client background
This manufacturer builds analytical instruments for testing laboratories: UV-Vis spectrophotometers, atomic absorption systems, GC-MS and HPLC platforms. Buyers are pharmaceutical quality teams, environmental testing labs and contract research organizations that need documented method performance and reliable service.
The query languages in the data point to a genuinely international buyer base. First-page rankings include Italian for a double-beam spectrophotometer term, Spanish for fluorescence spectroscopy, Indonesian for spectrophotometer calibration and English for topics like mass spectrometry versus gas chromatography. That mix tells us the client sells into Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia, not one domestic market.
Starting point
In the first quarter of the tracked period the site averaged 81 clicks per week and 6.4K impressions per week. The site had technical depth but little structure for search: thin coverage of the practical questions lab buyers ask, no consistent internal linking between instrument categories and application topics, and almost no presence in US organic results. Semrush showed just 1 organic keyword in July 2024. The job was to turn scattered product pages into a topic system that could rank in several languages at once.
What RAGSEO did
We ran the standard RAGSEO SEO method, tied to the themes visible in the ranking data: calibration and instrument errors, separation science, spectroscopy fundamentals and water and environmental testing.
- Keyword and topic research across English, Italian, Spanish and Indonesian, mapping terms like spectrophotometer calibration standards, mass spectrometry vs gas chromatography and sulphate test in water to specific page types.
- Website audit and on-page fixes: site speed, internal links between instrument categories and application articles, title and meta tags, image ALT text and site architecture.
- A RAG knowledge base built from the client's product documentation and lab application materials, so drafts carried correct technical detail.
- AI-assisted drafts reviewed by professional editors, covering themes such as spectrophotometer errors and how to fix them, argon gas in spectrometry and elution order in size exclusion chromatography, published after client approval.
- Off-page backlinks plus monthly Search Console reporting and strategy adjustment.
Results in Google Search Console
Over 70 weeks of web search data ending 2026-08-17, the site moved from a small baseline to a steady weekly audience. The last four weeks averaged 560 clicks per week, and the peak week reached 756 clicks at week 59 of 70.
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Total clicks | 26,401 |
| Total impressions | 2,529,870 |
| Weekly clicks, first quarter vs last quarter | 81 vs 619 (x7.6) |
| Weekly impressions, first quarter vs last quarter | 6.4K vs 62.4K (x9.8) |
| Growth multiple vs starting period | 12x |
First-page keyword wins show the topic system working across languages: mass spectrometry vs gas chromatography at average position 1.7, spectrophotometer calibration standards at 4.2, espectroscopia de fluorescencia at 4.3, sulphate test in water at 5.6, spettrofotometro a doppio raggio at 6.0 and kalibrasi spektrofotometer at 7.1.
Third-party view: Semrush and AI search
Semrush's US organic database tracks the same climb. Organic keywords went from 1 in July 2024 to 155 in August 2025 and 810 in August 2026. Estimated monthly organic traffic rose from 0 to 2 to 94 over the same checkpoints. The site now holds 5 keywords in the top 3, 27 in positions 4 to 10 and 95 in positions 11 to 20. Top non-brand terms include gc and gc-ms at #6 and #10, gasoline chromatogram at #3, gas chromatography vs mass spectrometry at #3, sulfate ions in water at #7, nmr vs ftir at #6, and size exclusion chromatography questions at #2 and #3.
Google AI features sent 138,164 AI search impressions in the last three months. The most-cited pages were Which Molecules Elute First in Size Exclusion Chromatography with 3,867 citations, 5 Common Spectrophotometer Errors and How to Fix with 3,303, and Why Argon Gas Is Used in Spectrometry with 3,255.
What the data says and what comes next
The honest reading: growth is real but uneven. Clicks peaked at 756 in week 59 and the last four weeks averaged 560, so the trend cooled after the high point rather than climbing in a straight line. Impressions grew faster than clicks, which means many pages rank and get seen but do not yet earn the click. Average positions in the 11 to 20 range, 95 keywords in Semrush, are the clearest opportunity: they are close to page one but not on it.
The next step is to push those mid-page terms upward. In RAGSEO terms that means refreshing the pages behind the highest-impression, lowest-CTR queries, tightening title and meta tags to match search intent, strengthening internal links from high-authority application articles to product pages, and continuing the editor-reviewed content pipeline on the themes already proving demand. Monthly Search Console reporting will show whether the post-peak dip is seasonal or a signal to reallocate topics.
